THE 4 TYPES OF CHILDREN

...
HYPERACTIVE CHILD

Ethan is a smart kid, but his problem is he can’t sit still, can’t focus on anything, and has trouble following instructions.

His teacher says Ethan blurts out inappropriate comments. He even distracts other kids at school with his behaviour.

Ethan’s parents just wish he could focus on one thing at a time for longer than a few seconds.

HYPERACTIVE CHILD

Riley follows to the rules, but lately her parents have become concerned that she is too passive. The trouble is she never really seems to assert herself.

Riley’s parents have even noticed her grades slipping. Not because she doesn’t have the ability, but because she doesn’t seem to care

BULLIED CHILD

Joshua is not as big as other kids in his grade and his lack of confidence makes him an easy target for bullies.

he is like a bully magnet. Sometimes he becomes visibly upset which just eggs the bullies on to torment him more.

Josh’s parents want to find a way to help Josh to defend himself against the bully.

Martial Arts helps by providing children with a clearer focus and self respect. It teaches them to achieve goals and listen to parents and teachers.

HYPERACTIVE CHILD

Martial arts helps children build focus by making them do only one thing at a time. We instill in them the habit of focusing that they can apply to other activities as well, such as paying attention in school.

For younger children, and children with severe attention deficit disorder, we modify our program by getting them to focus for shorter periods, and then gradually increase the intervals until they are focusing for longer periods.

Martial arts is a very effective, proven method for increasing focus, and will usually work even with kids that start off with very short attention spans.

HYPERACTIVE CHILD

The coloured belt system in martial arts is a very old and proven technique. It works because it sets a clear, achievable goal for children to strive towards. It teaches them to aim for a goal and then overcome obstacles to get there.

Once a first belt is awarded, children gain a sense of fulfillment. This gives them the confidence to climb higher.

Setting goals and going after them is an important habit that learned early in life often helps children overcome challenges when they become adults - challenges like earning a university degree, saving money, and exercising regularly.

...
uncooperative child

Martial arts teaches kids to follow directions, but not through yelling, scolding or punishment. Instead, they learn through a natural desire to want to fit in.

When a child is placed in an environment where everyone does what they are told the first time, they naturally start to adopt that behavior themselves. The martial arts dojang is specifically designed to encourage a culture of obedience that most children adopt naturally.

Parents are often shocked how quickly their children learn to do as they’re told, often after only a few weeks of martial arts.

...
BULLIED CHILD

Bullies will usually gravitate towards the weakest target. The child that doesn’t look them in the eye, that doesn’t appear confident, is the one that the bully is attracted to.

When your child begins to develop more confidence through martial arts, the bully will sense it and typically move on to bother someone else.

For the 1 time in 10 a bully doesn’t back down, martial arts also teaches children how to defend themselves physically. Martial arts doesn’t advocate violence, but as a last resort your child will be ready to defend themselves.

These days, it is a lot easier for kids not to get enough exercise. Surfing the net and video games quickly pull them into a sedentary pattern that will lead to weight gain. They need to be exposed to more active alternatives that will capture their interest.

Martial arts is the perfect activity for kids because it provides a stimulating form of exercise that your child won’t find boring, in an environment that is fun and encouraging, and will lead to healthy friendships with other students.

If your child happens to be overweight already, martial arts can reverse the trend and get them on track to shed pounds quickly.
